Personnel and organisation
On 31 December 2025, Hansel employed 145 persons (142 on 31 December 2024 and 132 on 31 December 2023). The employees’ average input in 2024 was 138 labour units (131 in 2024, 123 in 2023). At the end of 2025, women accounted for 59% of the employees and 67% of the Executive Committee. The average age of employees was 45. At the end of the financial period, 99% of employees had an employment contract valid until further notice (99% in 2024, 99% in 2023).
Hansel’s employees are highly educated. Of the employees, 1% had a doctoral degree, 57% a master’s degree from a university, and 10% a master’s degree from a university of applied sciences. Four per cent had a bachelor’s degree from a university and 17% a bachelor’s degree from a university of applied sciences, 8% had completed secondary-level education, and 3% had no vocational qualification. All permanent employees are included in the scope of the company’s performance bonus scheme. Regarding performance bonuses, Hansel follows the Government’s decision concerning the principle of “prosperity through responsible ownership” (8 April 2020).
In 2025, Hansel hired 11 new employees, one of them with a fixed-term employment contract. During the year, the employment relationships of eight persons were terminated. Resigning employees are interviewed on leaving the company to acquire feedback.
Employee wellbeing and working capacity are regularly monitored. The average score in the 2025 wellbeing at work survey was 4.23 on a scale of 1 to 5 (previous survey 3.98 in 2023). Hansel encourages its employees to develop their competence. In 2025, the average employee had three days of training. Training and discussion sessions are regularly arranged for supervisors in connection with their supervisory tasks.
Hansel’s Managing Director will change in spring 2026, when the company’s long-serving Managing Director Anssi Pihkala retires. The Board of Directors Hansel appointed Vesa Haapamäki, Master of Science (Economics and Business Administration), as the new Managing Director in November 2025. Haapamäki’s term of office will begin on 1 June 2026.

The following persons were elected as members of the Board of Directors by Hansel’s annual general meeting on 25 March 2025:

- Juha Myllymäki, Legal Director at the Association of Finnish Cities Municipalities, vice chair
- Marina Erhola, Chief Executive Officer of the Wellbeing services county of Pirkanmaa, member
- Antti Laakso, Head of Procurement of Aalto University, member
- Johanna Luukkonen, Mayor of the City of Hyvinkää, member
In addition, Category Manager Minna Isoherranen attended the Board’s meetings as a non-member representative elected by the personnel, holding the right to be present and speak. The Board convened 11 times in 2025. KPMG Oy Ab, Authorised Public Accountants, is the company’s auditor, with Mikko Luoma, authorised public accountant, as the principal auditor. Hansel’s Managing Director is Anssi Pihkala, Master of Laws with court training.
